Kindness and strong relationships, driven by our core Christian values of love, peace and hope, underpin everything that we do.
Promoting Strong, Positive and Healthy Relationships
One of our key anti-bullying strategies is to promote positive and healthy relationships. One of the ways we do this is through our ‘Kind and Thoughtful’ initiative. We have continuous discussion in school about what kind and thoughtful behaviours are and why it is important to be kind and thoughtful. Each week, class teachers nominate a kind and thoughtful child and give a reason for their selection. One child is picked from KS1 and one from KS2 to receive our kind and thoughtful award. They receive a certificate during our Celebration Friday, are given a kind and thoughtful badge to wear and keep, send an email to our Chair of Governors and have their picture on the kind and thoughtful display.
Anti-Bullying Ambassadors
Every adult and child at St Mary's is an anti-bullying ambassador. Each class also nominates two children to be 'Lead Anti-bullying Ambassadors'. Those children are enthusiastic about tackling bullying and they are positive role models and leaders. They are knowledgeable on the subject of bullying and know the steps to take if someone is being bullied, so that they can regularly remind the other children in their class of our anti-bullying policy and what to do if anyone needs help. They also work with other Lead Anti-Bullying Ambassadors and the staff at St Mary's to plan additional anti-bullying days and events.

The Big Anti-Bullying Assembly
Each year, we take part in The Big Anti-Bullying Assembly. We have all put our hands up and made a pledge against bullying. Soon, we will begin to train our Lead Anti-Bullying ambassadors.
